You have a lot of options to guide your decision making. Here are a few:
Political party lines all Republicans or all
Democrats regardless
Are you going to vote your conscience
Are you going to vote your convictions
Are you going to vote your faith
Are you going to vote your anger
Are you going to vote your fear
Are you going to vote Trump Republicans
Are you going to vote Pence Republicans
Are you going to vote for liberals
Are you going to vote for conservatives
Are you going to vote for evangelicals
Are you going to vote your race
Are you going to vote your ethnicity
Are you going to try to vote for the best possible
candidate
You will also be getting a lot of help
from political candidate’s commercials, from various news media based on their
political bias, and in some cases from your friends and neighbors.
The important thing is that you vote.
Voting can be a little bit difficult when
you get down to the local-level offices like school board, county judges, state
senators and members of the house, City councils, Mayors, and other local
officials.
You may be tempted to pass on the down
ballot candidates, especially if you don't know any of them. I would certainly
recommend that you take a moment and check out, the local candidates' websites
and their commercials if they're running any. You can use some of the criteria
above to make your decision about voting for these locally elected candidates.
In many cases, these elections are called “nonpartisan."
In most cases they are not nonpartisan at
all. Just a bit of checking will reveal that almost all of these candidates
have some sort of political affiliation and are supported by a political party
at the local county level.
Be sure to look carefully at what these
candidates say especially those for school boards and city and county
commissions, these are the people that will be making the political decisions
that affect your life most directly on a daily basis, be sure you consider and
vote carefully.
This is about picking the people who will
be making decisions for your local community, and they should reflect your
views.
All elections are important.
If that mail in ballot is still laying,
there on the kitchen counter or wherever you drop your mail get it out and vote.
If you're going to the polls to vote, or you're going to vote early be sure to
get it done.
