Is It Time To Divide The Republican Party?

FLORIDA

We see it every day and hear it every day in the news, in the electronic media, and in social media. It's the constant drone of the wrestling going on for control of the Republican Party.

The struggle between the Trump inspired alt right, and the effort of the entrenched Republican Party goals and standards that is slowly tearing the Republican Party to pieces.

It's the battle pitting the old white men of the traditional Republican Party against a younger crowd of righteous insurrectionist.

At this point, while it appears to some that the outcome of the midterms is still in question, there is little doubt that the effect of the strong pull toward right wing conservatism, in the Republican Party will have at least some degree of success.

While we're still a few weeks away from the midterm election, the questions loom large: “What will the Republican Party do as it heads toward 2024?”

Should former President Donald Trump form his own version of the Republican Party and work to get on the ballot in all 50 states with a full slate of candidates?

If Trump were to make such a move how many of the current old-line Republicans might follow him?

Is it time for the traditional Republicans to push Trump and all his supporters out of the Republican Party and attempt to survive on their own?

Can our democracy survive the political chaos that is certain to ensue once the midterm elections are complete?

I don't propose to have the answer for that question. And I'm not sure that all of the old white men whom we've relied on for so long to run this country can still do so.
