Why Are Harris and Waltz the Darlings of The Media Right Now?

FLORIDA
Opinion by: E. Eugene Webb PhD

You have probably noticed that almost all of the commentary in the print, electronic, and cable news is highly complementary toward the Harris/ Waltz ticket.

There are factors that lead to Harris/ Waltz that are intriguing to the media, and there is also the reality that the campaign being waged by Trump out on the street continues to create questions about Trump's viability as a President and his actual ability to win the election.

The fact of the matter is, except for Fox News, the mainstream media in the United States is predominantly democratic and significantly left leaning.

I do believe that the mainstream media in the United States, while they continue to stoke fears if Trump becomes president, are among the establishments in our country that are most fearful of a Trump presidency.

Since the Harris/Waltz candidacy became a possibility, mainstream media has failed to explore how much further left toward socialism will a Harris presidency lead us and how with whom Harris will fill Cabinet positions and other high ranking offices. My guess is DEI will rule over ability and qualifications.

We should learn a great deal more during the convention about where Kamala Harris and the people that surround her are planning to take the United States related to social programs that prop up the poor and middle class and how they might be planning to pay for them.

For now, the big players and those with lots of money are jumping on the bandwagon to support the Harris/Waltz ticket but as it begins to become clear that all of this talk about rolling back the Trump tax cuts for big business begins to move toward a reality, some of these folks may start to have second thoughts.

In any event, it would be a very good idea, whether you are a Republican or a Democrat to watch the Democratic convention over the next three days or so, listen to the media and how they react. Pay very careful attention to the platform and how it might affect you.

If you are unsure who to vote for, you might want to look at our post Voting Bicameral: The Bicameral Voting Process

It will help you make a much more informed voting decision.
